Brian Elliott makes 22 saves and Senators beat Sabres 2-0

Sens’ Elliott shuts out Sabres 2-0
OTTAWA — Brian Elliott made 22 saves for his second shutout in four games, and Alexandre Picard and Mike Fisher scored in the Ottawa Senators’ 2-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night.
Elliott, making his 13th straight start in the absence of the injured Pascal Leclaire, has three shutouts in 41 career NHL games.
With the victory, Ottawa ended Buffalo’s winning streak at four.
Picard opened the scoring in the first period, and Mike Fisher, with his 15th, secured the win, scoring with just over a minute remaining.
The Senators got off to a strong start, outshooting the Sabres 11-5 in the opening period and challenging goalie Ryan Miller a number of times. Miller, who faced 27 shots, made a great goal-line save on Ryan Shannon with 6 minutes remaining.
NOTES: The Senators were without C Jason Spezza (right knee, 6-8 weeks), LW Nick Foligno (lower body, out indefinitely), RW Chris Neil (knee, one week), G Pascal Leclaire (cheekbone, indefinitely), RW Shean Donovan (knee, eight weeks). The Sabres were missing C Nathan Gerbe (groin, day-to-day), C Paul Gaustad (knee, one week) and D Chris Butler (ankle, indefinitely).
