McCray’s 30 points, second-half surge lifts Kansas to 75-60 victory after slow start

No. 22 Kansas puts away UC Riverside 75-60
LAWRENCE, Kan. — Danielle McCray scored a season-high 30 points and No. 22 Kansas overcame a sluggish first half to beat UC Riverside 75-60 Sunday.
Marissa Rivera led the Highlanders with 21 points and Rhaya Neabors had 17 for UC Riverside, which lost its fourth straight.
UC Riverside (2-7) remained close for 10 minutes before Kansas (8-2) used a 20-8 run to take a 37-25 lead into halftime.
Aishah Sutherland added 11 points, all after halftime to help Kansas run away for its fifth win in a row.
In their first game after a week full of finals, the Jayhawks struggled on offense. But McCray, who entered the game averaging 19.1 points, carried the Jayhawks from start to finish.
During one stretch in the first half, McCray scored 11 consecutive points.
McCray aside, the game was pretty ugly.
The two teams exchanged botched possessions and errant passes, combining for 35 turnovers.
Kansas had 19 offensive rebounds that led directly to 24 points, while UC Riverside had just six offensive rebounds.
