Cape Town (S. Africa), - Fast bowler James Anderson has described the Test win against South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban as one of the best Test wins he has been involved with, and believes that the current England squad reflects the present generation.

In an article for The Mirror, Anderson said: “I can’t remember being a part of such a clinical performance. We’ve had great wins like that at home, but the fact we’ve done it in South Africa’s backyard really makes it special because Test wins on tour do not come easy.”

“It really feels now that this is the team of our generation, like we’ve come through a transition and have a group of players that can move onwards and upwards together. We were talking about it the other day that when Cookie played his first Test in Nagpur nearly all the guys here were in single figures for caps or low teens. But now, if you look down the list, everyone has played 40-odd, 50-odd Tests. We’ve got a fair bit of experience, but we’re still quite young and should be around for a long while yet to keep improving,” he adds.

“As a fast bowler who had put in some hard yards at Centurion, I can tell you there is no better feeling than having your feet up in the dressing room for a couple of days as you watch your batsmen make their bowlers work. I’ve got to say thanks to the lads for that, especially to Cookie and Ian Bell. They’ve been under a bit of pressure and to see the way they dealt with it was top class,” Anderson said.

He also praised Stuart Broad for knocking the opposition over.

“In this (Durban) Test it was Stuart Broad’s turn to do the damage among the pacemen and he has become a real threat because he is always asking questions. And once he gets on a roll, he can be devastating. There is no better place to watch ‘Broady’ weave his magic than out on the field,” said Anderson.

He also said that he did not bowl well in the Test, but expected to put up a better performance in the forthcoming Test. (ANI)
