UConn guard goes down with leg injury
STORRS, Conn. — Connecticut point guard Tiffany Hayes left the Huskies’ game against Cincinnati on Thursday night with a sprained left ankle.
She and Cincinnati guard Shareese Ulis both crashed to the floor as Ulis drove to the basket just 2½ minutes into the contest.
Hayes, who was called for a foul on the play, did not put any weight on the leg as she was taken off the court, but later limped to the training room.
She returned to the bench later in the half, but team spokesman Randy Press said she would not play the rest of the game “for precautionary reasons.”
Hayes has been averaging over 11 points and four rebounds per game for the top-ranked Huskies.
