Modin returns, Picard sent to Syracuse by Jackets
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A day after he was put on injured reserve, veteran left wing Fredrik Modin was activated by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
General manager Scott Howson also announced Tuesday that the club had assigned forward Alexandre Picard to its American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.
The 35-year-old Modin, a member of the Swedish Olympic team, missed the past six games after injuring his foot at Edmonton on Jan. 7. He earlier missed all but 14 games this season with a knee injury. He has one goal and one assist this season and 221 goals and 222 assists in 828 career NHL games.
The 24-year-old Picard, the eighth overall pick in the 2004 draft, was scoreless in nine games with the Blue Jackets this season and has two assists in 67 career games.
