Purdue upsets No. 23 Penn St. 80-76
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Brittany Rayburn scored 26 points and K.K. Houser made all 13 of her free throws in scoring a career-high 18 points, helping Purdue beat No. 23 Penn State 80-76 in overtime on Thursday night.
The Boilermakers (11-10, 6-4 Big Ten) led most of the game until Alex Bentley hit a jumper with 11 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 65 and send it to overtime.
Rayburn and Houser combined for 11 points in overtime as Purdue claimed its second straight upset of a Top 25 team. Purdue beat Ohio State on Monday.
Houser added six rebounds.
Bentley had 27 points for the Lady Lions (15-5, 7-3), who lost their first game since re-entering the Top 25 for the first time in five years.
Purdue capitalized on Penn State’s sloppy play throughout the game, scoring 20 points off turnovers.
Tyra Grant added 26 points for Penn State.
