MELBOURNE (GaeaTimes.com)- World No.1 tennis player Roger Federer has ensured his position in the semi-final of the Australian Open by registering a stunning victory against Russian Nikolay Davydenko on Wednesday. The Swish tennis star ended the 13 match winning streak of the Russian player by beating him by 2-6, 6-3, 6-0, 7-5.

Despite the fact that Nikolay Davydenko displayed a stunning performance during the opening set of the match, the Swish tennis superstar soon took over in a big way which subsequently resulted in his victory. Although the Russian player, who managed to defeat Roger Federer during two previous showdown, seemed to be regaining control of the match in the fourth quarter but failed to do much as Roger Federer gave his best shot to emerge victorious.

The 15 major Grand Slam titles that Roger Federer has won in his illustrious career include three Australian Open victories. Although the quarter-final victory over Nikolay Davydenko did not turn out to be a cake walk for the 28 year old tennis star, expectations are high from him as this would mark his fourth Australian Open victory.

While reacting to his victory, Roger Federer added that he was delighted to beat a player as talented as the Russian. Moreover, with the victory, the Swish tennis superstar also made sure that he continues to remain the top seeded player when the new rankings are released on Monday.
