LONDON - Laura Robson, who made it to the girls’ final at the Australian Open, has admitted that she was inspired by Andy Murray’s run to the tournament’s final.
The 16-year-old British had partnered Murray at the Hopman Cup before the Australian Open tour.
“I learned off Andy to chase down every ball. I hope he can win a Slam here. It would make even more kids in Britain want to play tennis,” The Sun quoted her, as saying.
On Friday, Robson reached the junior girls’ final for the second year in a row by humbling Kristyna Pliskova 6-3 6-1.
But she lost the final in straight sets to sixth seed Karolina Pliskova.
An out-of-sorts Robson struggled against the tall Czech’s big serve as she was beaten 6-1 7-6 (7/5) in one hour 20 minutes at the Rod Laver Arena. (ANI)
