Clark and Chin take gold in 470 at Miami OCR
MIAMI — Amanda Clark and Sarah Chin won a gold medal in the Women’s 470 class at the Rolex Miami OCR on Saturday, helping the United States finish the event with 10 total medals.
In the women’s match-racing finals, Anna Tunnicliffe, Molly Vandemoer and Debbie Capozzi beat the British team skippered by Lucy MacGregor. Britain’s six medals were second at the regatta, which is the second of seven stops of the International Sailing Federation’s 2009-2010 World Cup.
Clark and Chin, who were 2008 Olympians, took a year off after Beijing.
“It’s great to win our first major regatta back,” she added. “This was a huge positive for us. We wanted to enter this quad with a strong start, proving we still have what it takes. This time around, we’re ready to be on the podium.”
