Hockey World Cup Trophy unveiled in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA - The Hockey World Cup Trophy was unveiled in Ludhiana here as a part of the tour organised by Hero Honda, sponsors of Hockey World Cup 2010, for the promotion of Hockey World Cup tournament beginning on February 28 this year.
The trophy was brought to Ludhiana from New Delhi and after its display here, it will be taken to the other parts of the country.
Hockey fans were delighted to see the World Cup trophy.
Awatar Singh, a former hockey player said, “The trophy reminded me of 1958, when I used to play. I feel like a 25-year old, I wish and I am confident that India (will) reach the finals.”
Hockey lovers thronged in large numbers to have a glimpse of the trophy.
“I feel the trophy, we saw on television is in front of me. I am proud that Hero Honda is sponsoring the tournament. After looking at the trophy, I feel India will definitely win the World Cup,” said Deepak Shrivastav, a local.
Hockey World Cup trophy has been designed by Bashir Moojid of Pakistani army.
The trophy consists of a silver cup with an intricate floral design, surmounted by a globe of the world in silver and gold, placed on a high blade base inlaid with ivory. At its peak is a model hockey stick and ball. (ANI)
