Nobunari Oda: 4th In Olympics Skating

VANCOUVER (GaeaTimes.com)- Nobunari Oda, the male figure skater in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics was too impressive in Tuesday’s skating. He was flawless and secured the 4th position with 84.85. Nobunari Oda has been the Japanese National Champion of the year 2008. He was the Four Continents Champion in 2006 and the 2005 World Junior Champion. Japan gave some brilliant performances in the men’s skating of 2010 Winter Olympics. While Nobunari Oda secured the 4th position, Japan’s Daisuke Takahashi got the 3rd place. Daisuke Takahashi made a great comeback. He missed the entire 2008/2009 campaign due to surgery on his right knee. Daisuke Takahashi was amazing and scored 90.25 points. He and the Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko did not have much difference of points. Just 0.05 separated Daisuke Takahashi from securing the second position. Another competitor from Japan called Takahiko Kozuka was placed 8th, with a score of 79.59.

Nobunari Oda, the 22-year-old has a great family history. He is the 17th direct descendant of the war lord Oda Nobunaga who was a ‘daimyo’ during Japan’s Sengoku period. Nobunari Oda who was born in Takatsuki, Osaka, Japan had also lived in Ontario, Canada for training at the Mariposa School of Skating and in Hackensack, New Jersey, where the coach Nikolai Morozov trained him.

Nobunari Oda was arrested on July 26, 2007 by the Osaka police for driving his bike under the influence of alcohol. However, there wasn’t any mishap of any sorts. Nobunari Oda had immediately apologized but he was not allowed to participate in an upcoming ice show in Japan. Nobunari Oda’s performance in the Olympics was immensely enjoyed by all.
