Australian Bright, American Clark finish 1-2 in Olympic women’s halfpipe qualifying

Bright outshines Clark in halfpipe qualifying
WEST VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Australian Torah Bright and America’s Kelly Clark have finished first and second in Olympic halfpipe qualifying, setting up a showdown for the finals.
Bright scored a 45.8 to guarantee she’ll go last in Thursday night’s final. Clark, the 2002 gold medalist, scored a 45.4 on the 50-point scale.
Defending Olympic champion Hannah Teter and silver medalist Gretchen Bleiler also advanced, along with Spain’s Queralt Castellet and China’s Sun Zhifeng.
America’s Elena Hight finished eighth. The seventh through 18th-place finishers advanced to second-chance qualifying round, where six more riders will earn spots in the final.
