British brakeman tossed from sled in 2-man race

WHISTLER, British Columbia — There have been three crashes in the opening heat of the Olympic two-man bobsled competition, involving sleds from Liechtenstein, Britain and Australia.

No serious injuries were reported, and all six sliders walked away.

The sleds from Liechtenstein and Britain both lost control with about five curves left on the course, with British brakeman Dan Money getting tossed from the back of his sled when it overturned. The Australian sled crashed shortly after pilot Jeremy Rolleston had difficulty getting seated at the start.

Liechtenstein’s team of Michael Klingler and Thomas Duerr remained in the competition. Because they did not finish the run, the British and Australian sleds that crashed will not race the second heat.
