Sweden’s Anna Holmlund edges Canada’s Ashleigh McIvor in Olympic skicross qualifying

Sweden’s Anna Holmlund tops skicross qualifying
WEST VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Anna Holmlund of Sweden has earned the top spot in the Olympic women’s skicross bracket, finishing her qualifying heat 0.02 seconds faster than Canada’s Ashleigh McIvor.
Holmlund made it down the course Tuesday in 1 minute, 17.15 seconds to position herself as the top seed among the 32 women who will return in the afternoon for a series of four-woman races.
Ophelie David of France qualified sixth. She and McIvor are favorites to win skicross in its Olympic debut.
There are no Americans in the event.
