Los Angeles (GaeaTimes.com) – According to media reports, a SeaWorld Orlando Trainer was killed in an accident on Wednessday afternoon at approximately 2:00 p.m. by a killer whale. She somehow slipped or fell in the whale’s tank drowning her in front of a horrified audience while preparing for a live performance. She is identified as Dawn Brancheau after the paramedics arrived and found the victim unresponsive in the killer whale’s tank.
Though the reports say that forty year old Brancheau slipped and fell into the tank, there are many eye witnesses who claim that they have seen the whale jump out of the water, grab the trainer and violently thrashing her, knocking her shoe off and drowning her.
The name of the killer whale is Tillikum and is also known as Tilly. This is not the first time that the whale is involved in an incident like this. It has been accused of killing a trainer at the Sealand of Pacific in 1991. In 1992 Tilly was obtained by Sea World. In 1999 Tilly, body of a man was found on Tilly’s back.
At the death of Ms Brancheau’s death, many questions have arisen from the animal rights activists. Joyce Tischler, founder of and general counsel for Animal Legal Defense Fund compares an orca’s life in captivity in a tank to keeping a human being in a bathtub for his entire life.

These behemoths are denied all of their natural, instinctual inclinations, and we humans tend to think, ‘Well, this is just a bad animal.’ But it is a wild animal, used to running free in an entire ocean, but now confined to a very small space.
