Lowe falls short of US indoor record in high jump

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — For a brief moment Saturday, Chaunte Lowe had equaled a U.S. indoor record in the high jump.

She cleared 6 feet, 7 inches on her final attempt at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships and landed on the mat, only to watch the bar drop.

Most of the events Saturday were preliminaries, with the remainder of the finals occurring Sunday. The meet will determine the U.S. Team for the World Championships next month in Doha, Qatar.

Lowe won her finals event with a 6-6 jump.
