Fran McCaffery: New Iowa Coach

IOWA CITY (GaeaTimes.com)- Fran McCaffery has been appointed as the coach of the men’s basketball team of University of Iowa, according to latest reports. The news that the Siena Saints basketball coach would now be leading the Iowa Hawkeyes has been confirmed by athletic director Gary Barta who declared on Sunday, that Fran McCaffery had ultimately taken the decision to join University of Iowa.
While announcing that Fran McCaffery would be the new coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes, it has come to light that the 50 year old reputed coach would be introduced as the University of Iowa men’s basketball team coach in a news conference to be held at the Iowa City on Monday. It has been reported that the much acclaimed coach arrived on Eastern Iowa Airport on Sunday with his family, who were then escorted to the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame. Reportedly, some of the players of the Iowa basketball team also came at the venue to meet their new coach, who had been part of the Siena Saints for five seasons. However, Fran McCaffery’s reaction to his new job has not been available to the news sources.
Meanwhile, John D’Argenio, the Director of Athletics at Siena has released a statement while reacting to the appointment of Fran McCaffery in University of Iowa. In the statement, Siena has thanked their former coach for his commitment as well as dedication towards building up the team during his tenure. At the same time, Fran McCaffery has also been congratulated by his former team to have got the opportunity to be the head coach at Iowa.
