Kabaddi World Cup 2010 Kicks Off Today

CHANDIGARH, INDIA (Gaea Times.com)- Kabaddi World Cup 2010 will kick start today with India taking on USA at the YPS Patiala. Reportedly there will be nine teams competing for the Kabaddi World Cup 2010. Norway has already withdrawn their name from the tournament. The Kabaddi World Cup 2010 is called Prize Money Pearls World Cup and the event is being organized by Punjab Government.
Pargat Singh, the Organizing Secretary of the Kabaddi World Cup 2010 declared that all the competing teams have been divided into two pools namely Pool A and Pool B. India, the host country has been placed in Pool A alongside USA, Italy, Iran and Australia. Pool B has Pakistan, UK, Canada and Spain battling it out against each other.
The opening ceremony for the Kabaddi World Cup 2010 shall be held at the Yadvindra Public School in Patiala just ahead of the opening match to be played between India and USA. Kabaddi World Cup 2010 shall have three daily matches being played. From all the matches, the topper teams from each pool shall meet each other in the semifinals and then on the way to the finals where two teams will fight it out for the whopping 2.2 crore prize money and the winner’s trophy. The Runners up will receive a sum of Rs. 51 lac and each team shall also receive 5 lac INR each as participation money. The final match of Kabaddi World Cup 2010 shall be played on Apr 12 at the Guru Nanak Stadium of Ludhiana. The Punjab Sports Department is all geared up to maintain a maximum security measure which they feel is extremely important owing to the presence of foreign teams who will be received by the security officials in Delhi.
