Avila lifts FC Dallas to 2-2 tie with Crew

FRISCO, Texas — Eric Avila scored in the 93rd minute to lift FC Dallas to a 2-2 tie with the Columbus Crew on Saturday night.

Avila, who entered the game in the 75th minute, fired a shot from near the top of the penalty arc and into the right corner of the net for. Jeff Cunningham also scored for FC Dallas (0-0-2), converting a penalty kcik in the 29th minute.

Andy Moffat tied the score at 1-1 in the 52nd minute and Guillermo Barros Schelotto gave Columbus (1-1-0) a 2-1 lead in the 82nd. Moffat took a pass from Steven Lenhart and fired a shot from the top of the penalty box and into the top left corner of the net. Schelotto rebounded his own missed penalty kick and angled a header into the right corner of the net.

Sadly, the promise that Denilson showed never really developed, mostly down to his selfish play by holding on the ball for too long, or as the UK would say, ‘ball-hogging’.
