NASHVILLE (GaeaTimes.com)- Jake Shields was successful in defending his Middleweight title on Saturday fighting out Dan Henderson in the Strikeforce martial arts championship. The decision in the game had been taken in the first five minutes itself when Jake Shields kept opponent Dan Henderson landed on the ground throughout the last four rounds of the game. The Nashville fight marked the 14th consecutive win for Jake Shields.

In the first round of the game though it was Jake Shields who was at odds in the game. Dan Henderson made use of his patent power and knocked the champion to the ground with a hard punch, Jake Shields later commenting that it was possibly the hardest hit that he had ever survived. After the first 30 seconds though the fight turned in favor of the defending champion. From the second round onwards, Jake Shields dropped Dan Henderson to the ground, keeping him there for almost the rest of the match. A continuous stream of punches, which added to Jake Shields’ points was delivered so hard that Dan Henderson could only save himself by turning his back to the player.

According to the statistics, Jake Shields landed a total of 232 strikes which includes as many as 180 punches on the ground. After his win, several promotions may be interested in the Strikeforce champion, feel the experts. Though Jake Shields has refused to comment on the campaigns which he would like to work for, some organizations are already looking forward to working with him. For example, The Ultimate Fighting Championship issued a statement saying that they would ask Jake Shields to work for them in the future.
