The Washington Wizards team President Ernie Grunfeld seemed elated with the win and mentioned to the reporters that the day has turned out to be a special one for the Washington Wizards franchise and also for the fans of the team. Team President Ernie Grunfeld was candid enough to mention to the reporters that the result and the win had come as s surprise. However, the surprise no doubt is a good one as the team has in the last year been witness to some tragic and unpleasant incidents. While Washington Wizards’ longtime owner Abe Pollin died last year, the leading player of the team Gilbert Arenas was convicted for the violation of firearms rule of the NBA recently.
The Washington Wizards with the No.1 draft pick win will provide the team franchise the opportunity to pick the point guard of the University of Kentucky John Wall. Ernie Grunfeld said on Tuesday that “What better way to rebuild than with the No.1 pick”. The NBA draft pick is scheduled for June 24, 2010.
