MEERUT - Properties worth millions of rupees were gutted after a major fire broke out at a cricket bat-making factory in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut city on Wednesday.

About eight fire brigades were rushed to the spot.

“We are controlling the fire by constantly using the tenders. The fire is almost under control. There is a little bit fire left which is being brought under control,” said N. K. Singh, a fire official.

The cause of fire is said to be a short circuit inside the factory.

No casualties have been reported so far. (ANI)
