Liverpool to formally approach Fulham for Hodgson

LONDON - In order to search a suitable successor, Liverpool will make a formal approach to speak to Fulham boss Roy Hodgson.

Managing Director Christian Purslow and Kop legend Kenny Dalglish have put together a shortlist for the post, which includes Hodgson and Guus Hiddink.

Despite claims the club will look to make an interim appointment until the club is sold, that’s highly unlikely, News of the World reports.

Liverpool wants a permanent manager and don’t believe the ownership crisis will deter outstanding candidates seeking the position.

Hodgson would like to meet the Anfield board to discuss the possibility of taking such a lucrative post when he’s granted permission by his club.

He feels he has a major job left in him before he retires, and his dignified, steadying approach would offer a sense of calm after Benitez’s turbulent last few years. (ANI)
