CHICAGO (GaeaTimes.com)- Jonathan Toews was declared the winner of the Stanley Cup on Thursday, and thus, he became the youngest winner of the trophy. As it is, he is the youngest captain with the national Hockey League, heading the Chicago Blackhawks only at the age of 22, but it cannot be denied that he is definitely one of the most promising captains in the whole of the National Hockey League too. On the other hand, the trophy is also all the more significant for the player as, as he himself admitted, his team had come close to winning the trophy before, but had never made it. Moreover, the Stanley Cup holds a special significance, as it is one of the most prestigious awards that can go to a hockey team.
However, there was one minor glitch in his acceptance of the much coveted trophy. When Jonathan Toews went on the stage to receive the Stanley Cup, he was seen staggering a little bit, as he held the trophy in his hands. Later on, he went on to admit that he had not really expected the Cup to be as heavy as he found it to be, and had staggered under the unexpected weight.
However, Jonathan Toews also went on to say that although he had not expected the trophy to be that heavy, and had almost fallen under its weight, he felt that he would not have minded falling with it, saying that every ounce of extra energy that went into hoisting the trophy was very much worth it, as it was an honor not everybody could comprehend.
