PHILADELPHIA (GaeaTimes.com)- One of the most anticipated events in the NHL is the Stanley Cup where the best teams from the states compete to play in the finals. On Wednesday night, we saw the emergence of a new hero for the Philadelphia Flyers- Claude Giroux. Though Cluade Giroux cannot be called an unlikely hero considering his talent, he did struggle in the last two finals.

On Wednesday night though Claude Giroux proved his mettle when he scored his ninth of the post-season by re-directing a slap pass by Matt Carle from the blue line and drove his shot through the slot at 5.59 of extra time. Philadelphia Flyer’s 4-3 victory, courtesy Claude Giroux, proved yet again the resilient nature of the team. They have never been exterminated from a competition without a fight. The 22 year old hero was ecstatic after the win and said that before the game, a friend of his texted him that he will score for a win at the last minute. The friends prediction came to be true and so did Philadelphia Flyer’s dreams in the Stanley Cup.

This is the same team that bounced back in from a 3-0 deficit in the 1st half to take out Boston. A loss to Chicago at this point wold have meant a 3-0 lead to the latter which can be called unassailable. The 2-1 scenario now gives Philadelphia the much needed momentum in the Stanley Cup. Coach Peter Laviolette revealed after the game that he told the boys to cheer up and relax before the start. According to him, it was probably Cluade Giroux who took the advice, he smiled all day and had a fantastic game.
