Iniesta looks ready to play Spain’s WCup opener
POTCHEFSTROOM, South Africa — Andres Iniesta looks likely to be ready for Spain’s opening World Cup match against Switzerland after the midfielder returned to regular training Sunday.
Iniesta hurt his right thigh muscle last week, but worked out with his teammates for the first half hour and took part in a simulated game.
Xabi Alonso also returned after leaving practice Saturday to prevent an injury.
Fernando Torres remains the only question mark for the European champion’s Group H opener in Durban on Wednesday, as Cesc Fabregas looks set to start alongside Xavi Hernandez, Alonso, David Silva and Sergio Busquets in midfield, with David Villa as lone striker.
