RUSTENBURG, South Africa — Slovakia is leading 1-0 against New Zealand after 60 minutes following Robert Vittek’s header in their World Cup match Tuesday.
The goal came in the 50th minute when Stanislav Sestak crossed from the right. New Zealand defender Winston Reid missed his defensive header, allowing Vittek to score from close range at the far post.
New Zealand began the match well, but gradually Slovakia gained midfield control and created several chances from the half-hour mark onward.
