Serbia, Germany tied 0-0 after 30 minutes
PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa — Serbia and Germany were tied 0-0 after 30 minutes of their Group D match at the World Cup, with each picking up two yellow cards.
Germany beat Australia 4-0 in its first match and had the best early chance in the seventh minute Friday when Lukas Podolski’s left-footed strike went wide of the left post.
Miroslav Klose of Germany received a yellow card from referee Alberto Undiano for a trip, also in the 12th minute.
In the 18th minute, the referee yellow carded Serbia’s Branislav Ivanovic, followed by Aleksandar Kolarov a minute later — both for rough challenges.
Germany’s Sami Khedira was then penalized, too.
