Australia leads Serbia 2-0 after 75 minutes
NELSPRUIT, South Africa — Tim Cahill and Brett Holman scored to give Australia a 2-0 lead after 75 minutes of their Group D match against Serbia at the World Cup on Wednesday.
Cahill headed in at 69 minutes and Holman drove in a second at 73. Serbia had missed a series of chances to take the lead, with Aussie goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer having an outstanding match.
Australia needs to win and have the result of the other group D match between Germany and Ghana go its way. Serbia might progress with a draw but can’t afford to lose.
