Australia, Serbia 0-0 after 60 minutes
NELSPRUIT, South Africa — Serbia has dominated play but is being held to a 0-0 score by Australia after an hour of their Group D match at the World Cup on Wednesday.
Serbia winger Milos Krasic had the ball in the net in the 38th minute, but was ruled offside. He wasted his team’s best chance when one on one with goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, only to shoot wide. Serbia forward Nikola Zigic sent a shot over the crossbar from inside the penalty area at 53 minutes as both teams turned up the pace.
Australia needs to win and have the result of the other group D match between Germany and Ghana go its way. Serbia might progress with a draw, but can’t afford to lose.
