Denmark, Japan tied 0-0 after 15 minutes
RUSTENBURG, South Africa — With a berth in the second round on the line, Denmark and Japan were tied 0-0 with few scoring chances during the first 15 minutes of their Group E match at the World Cup on Thursday.
Denmark had an opportunity in the third minute when forward Jon Dahl Tomasson squared a pass to Simon Busk Poulsen in front of goal, but the left back miss-hit it and the ball went over the bar.
Denmark tried to use its considerable height advantage over the Japanese players by attempting crosses into the penalty area in search of a headed goal.
The match will determine the final team from the group to advance to the next round.
