Paraguay, New Zealand tied 0-0 after 75 minutes
POLOKWANE, South Africa — Paraguay midfielder Cristian Riveros saw his header saved by New Zealand goalkeeper Mark Paston in the best chance so far as the All Whites and Paraguay remained locked at 0-0 after 75 minutes of their last Group F game at the World Cup.
Paraguay dominated possession but hardly created few opportunities against a fierce New Zealand defense.
The South Americans had several attempts from long range, but defender Denis Caniza shot wide twice, while Paston saved a low shot from striker Nelson Valdez.
Paraguay leads the group and only needs a draw to advance, while New Zealand must win to guarantee it moves on. With Slovakia beating Italy 2-0 in Thursday’s other Group F, the All Whites would be knocked out with a draw.
