After 60: ICoast leads NKorea 2-0
NELSPRUIT, South Africa — Yaya Toure and Koffi Romaric scored first-half goals as Ivory Coast leads North Korea 2-0 after 60 minutes of the teams’ last World Cup group match.
Yaya Toure opened the scoring for the Elephants in the 14th minute and Koffi Romaric doubled the lead with a header after Didier Drogba’s 20th-minute drive rebounded off the crossbar.
Kolo Toure had a chance from Romaric’s free kick and Emmanuel Eboue flashed a shot over from the edge of the box as the second half got underway, while Drogba also went close from a 55th-minute corner.
Ivory Coast started the day needing to win and make up a nine-goal difference with Portugal to have a chance of advancing to the round of 16.
