FIFA looking at complaint against Algeria’s Saifi
JOHANNESBURG — FIFA is investigating a complaint against Algeria striker Rafik Saifi following an altercation with a journalist at the World Cup.
The incident occurred after Algeria was eliminated by Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to the United States.
A female reporter from an Algerian publication was heard shouting at Saifi, who left Loftus Versfeld stadium holding his lip and refusing to respond to questions in the area where media interviews are conducted with players.
FIFA spokesman Pekka Odriozola said Friday “we have only today received the formal complaint and the official report” and that soccer’s ruling body will look into the matter.
