Uruguay leads SKorea 1-0 after 15 minutes
PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa — Luis Suarez has scored to give Uruguay a 1-0 lead against South Korea after 15 minutes of the teams’ World Cup second-round match.
Suarez struck in the 8th minute with a one-timer from a tight angle, after a cross by Diego Forlan on the left flank was allowed to bounce untouched to the far post.
South Korea hit the post in the fifth minute on Park Chu-young’s curled free kick from 22 yards.
A minute later, Uruguay forward Forlan forced goalkeeper Jung Sung-ryong into an easy save.
The winner plays a quarterfinal against the United States or Ghana.
Victory here for Uruguay would be its best World Cup showing since reaching the 1970 semifinals. South Korea was a semifinalist in 2002.
