Univision sets record for World Cup game
NEW YORK — The World Cup soccer match between Mexico and Argentina last week is the most-watched program ever on a Spanish-speaking network in the United States.
The Nielsen Co. says nearly 9.4 million people watched the match on Univision on Sunday. If that were a prime-time show, the audience would have been big enough to put it in last week’s top 10.
An additional 5.5 million people watched the match on ESPN. A day earlier, the match where the United States’ team was eliminated by Ghana became the most-watched soccer game ever in the United States.
