CHELMSFORD - Bowling all-rounder Abdul Razzaq’s brilliant spell of three for 19 helped Pakistan trounce Essex by 66 runs in a practice T20 match here ahead of the next week’s encounter with Australia.

Pakistan made 204 for four, and then held Essex to 138 for nine in their allotted 20 overs.

Shahzaib Hasan top scored for Pakistan with 49.

Razzaq’s burst of three wickets in nine balls saw the county team wobbling with openers Mark Pettini and Matt Walker back in pavilion followed by Grant Flower with only 11 runs on the board, The News reports.

Pakistani batsmen hammered leg spinner Danish Kaneria, who would be joining his home side for the Test series against Australia and England, for 46 runs off his three overs.

Kaneria got the sole wicket of Salman Butt, who made 41.

Pakistan would now play Northamptonshire in the last warm up match today (Saturday) before playing Australia in back-to-back Twenty20 internationals at Edgbaston on Monday and Tuesday. (ANI)
