Dhoni got married to old friend Sakshi Singh Rawat at a private ceremony in Dehradun on Sunday night. The wedding ceremony was attended by around 70 guests who were present to shower the newly-married couple with their best wishes. Apart from some of his friends and team mates of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s wedding was largely attended by friends and family members of the highly acclaimed Indian cricketer.

The news of the Indian skipper ultimately tying the knot came as quite a surprise to his large number if fans across the country as there had been no prior reports indicating that the cricketer was planning to get married with the 21 year old Kolkata-based girl. According to reports, the wedding ceremony of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his lady love was scheduled to take place in the month of October but as the news of their engagement became public on Saturday, the wedding ceremony was preponed.

Members of the Indian cricket team who are reported to have graced the occasion include Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, RP Singh and Aashish Nehra while Bollywood actor John Abraham also attended Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s wedding ceremony. However, Sachin Tendulkar, India opener Gautam Gambhir as well as Yuvraj Singh were conspicous by their absence. Although the wedding ceremony were a closely guarded affair where the media were kept completely out of bounds, it has been reported that a gala wedding reception is likely to take place in Mumbai on July 7, which incidentally happens to be the cricketer’s 29th birthday.
