Creamer up by 3 at turn at US Women’s Open

OAKMONT, Pa. — Paula Creamer, an eight-time LPGA winner but never a major champion, leads South Korea’s Na Yeon Choi by three shots midway through the final round of the U.S. Women’s Open. Suzann Pettersen of Norway is four shots back.

Creamer maintained the same lead she held after completing the final five holes of the weather-delayed third round earlier Sunday.

Creamer is trying to repeat what she did in all eight of her previous tournament wins, when she led each one entering the final round. She is trying to become only the second American in six years to win the U.S. Women’s Open.

Choi was down by seven shots entering the final 18 holes at Oakmont Country Club. She won last week’s Jamie Farr Classic.
