JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA (GaeaTimes.com)- The FIFA World Cup 2010 has a winner and it is Spain. With the Cup handed over to the Spanish team, it was time to distribute the other trophies to the players who belonged to other teams as well. Among the rest, Thomas Mueller is the winner of the FIFA World Cup 2010 Golden Boot.
Giving him tough competition in the Golden Boot category were David Villa, Diego Forlan and Wesley Sneijder. With each of the players having scored a total of five goals each, it was left to the FIFA authorities to select their winner for this year based on the number of assists that each of the footballers contributed to their teams throughout the matches played by them in this year’s tournament. Thomas Mueller is the man who has helped his team with the maximum number of assists in the FIFA World Cup 2010 and therefore the Golden Boot, also known as the Golden Shoe was awarded to the Germany player.
Thomas Mueller has to his name a total of five goals and three assists, the first of the goals having been scored in the opening match of Germany against Australia. While the next three goals came in the knock out matches played against England and Argentina, his last goal in the FIFA World Cup 2010 came in the last match played by Germany against Uruguay.
Apart from the Golden Boot, Thomas Mueller also has to his name the ‘Best Young Player award’ of the FIFA World Cup 2010. While David Villa took home the Silver Boot of the tournament, Wesley Sneijder of the Netherlands, otherwise considered as one of the best contenders won the Bronze Boot.
