Morgan can bring his one-day strengths into Test cricket: Strauss

LONDON - England skipper Andrew Strauss is backing left-handed batsman Eoin Morgan to come good in the Test arena, and confirm a place in the Ashes squad.
“There is no reason why Eoin can’t bring his one-day strengths into Test cricket. He’s got a very clear mind, reads the situation well and he doesn’t get overawed by it,” The Daily Express quoted Strauss, as saying.
“He can play a number of different ways and that flexibility is a great strength that would be good to see at Test level.”
“He has the ability to take the game away from the opposition and is very good against spin so there is no reason why he can’t have a successful Test career,” he added.
Morgan has made a huge impact on the ODI team since his debut last summer, but admits that he that he needs to give better performances if he has to dream of an Ashes place.
“Test cricket is the ultimate and I really want to do well. I was a bit anxious before I batted in the Tests, I’d been building it up maybe more than I should have,” Morgan said.
“If I do play against Pakistan I need to get a lot of runs. The competition for places is fierce and it is a big summer leading into a winter tour,” he added. (ANI)
