KJ Choi takes early 2nd round lead in Sweden
STOCKHOLM — K.J. Choi has taken over the lead at the Scandinavian Masters after shooting a 5-under 67 early in the second round Friday, putting him at 9 under overall.
British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen was one of the overnight leaders but slipped down the leaderboard after a 70, taking him to 7 under at the tournament’s midway point.
Teeing off early, Oosthuizen had a double bogey at the 150-yard, par-3 17th after landing in the water.
The South African had three birdies and another bogey over his first nine holes for an even 36, which was four shots off his first-round performance.
Choi had an impressive start, with an eagle on the 15th, as well as birdies at the 13th, 16th and 17th, for a 5-under 31 on the front nine.
