RSL stays unbeaten at home, ties 1-1 with Chivas
SANDY, Utah — Real Salt Lake ran its franchise-record home unbeaten streak to 19 regular-season games, tying 1-1 with Chivas USA on Saturday night.
RSL has not lost at Rio Tinto Stadium since May 16, 2009.
Ned Grabavoy scored for Real Salt Lake on a stunning left-footed volley in the 67th minute. His goal came five minutes after entering the game for captain Kyle Beckerman, who returned after missing seven straight games with a torn foot tendon.
Jesus Padilla equalized for last-place Chivas just three minutes later on a blast from the top of the box that RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando knocked down from chest level, only to have it bounce under him and into the goal.
RSL moved to 31 points, nine behind Los Angeles in the Western Conference.
