Headingley Test performance against Australia ‘a dream come true’: Aamer

London, July 25(ANI): Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Aamer has described his match-winning performance against Australia in the Headingley Test as a ‘dream come true’ and one he would remember for a long time to come.

Aamer’s bowling helped Pakistan register their first Test win against Australia in 15 years.

The 18-year-old took 11 wickets in the two Tests against Australia, including seven in the second Test, which earned him the man-of-the-match award.

“It is a dream come true for me, because I had always dreamt of performing well against Australia, and thanks to Almighty Allah, I have done well to help my team win the Test,” The News quoted Aamer, as saying.

Aamer’s performances have prompted experts to compare him with Pakistani legend Wasim Akram, but he said that he has a long way to go before being compared to the great fast bowler.

“I stand no where near Wasim Bhai. I have to go a long way to become Wasim Akram, but his words were very encouraging and increased my will to perform. He is my idol, and I want to become as consistent as he was during his entire career,” he added.

Pakistan registered a three-wicket win on Saturday to level the two-match series 1-1.

It was Pakistan’s first Test victory over Australia since 1995, with the Australians winning 13 matches on the trot since then.

Australia had won the first Test at Lord’s by 150 runs (ANI)
