KOCHI - The indoor stadium of Kochi witnessed a unique cricket match played between two teams of supporters of Lord Rama and the antagonist, King Ravana, as they took on each other on the weekend.

Members of an organization assayed the roles of characters from the Hindu epic ‘Ramayana’ and faced each other in a cricket match.

Kerala Merchants Youth Wing had organised this special match on the occasion of their 10th anniversary.

According to the organizers, the aim was not only to entertain the crowd but it was an attempt to look back to the traditions.

For the special match, Lord Rama’s team was lined up ‘Deva Lions 2010′ while King Ravana’s was ‘Asuras 2010′. ‘Narada’, the good-natured, frequently meddling sage in the epic was the Umpire of the match.

“This is to ensure that our tradition is remembered, regardless of all the people making changes in Kerala. This is the best way to show how much we love Asia and Kerala,” said Netan.

The match ended with the triumph of the Deva Lions 2010 over ‘Asuras 2010′. By Juhan Samuel (ANI)
