Kastor pregnant, will miss NYC Marathon
NEW YORK — U.S. marathon record-holder Deena Kastor is pregnant with her first child and will miss the New York City Marathon this fall.
Her management company and New York Road Runners said Thursday the baby is due in March. The five-borough race is Nov. 7. The 37-year-old Kastor says she’ll take part in events during the week of the marathon.
Kastor made her NYC Marathon debut in 2001. She had been entered for the first time since 2006, when she finished sixth.
Kastor won the marathon bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics. She set the American record with her time of 2:19:36 in winning the 2006 London Marathon.
