PARAMUS (GaeaTimes.com)- The Barclays 2010 got off to an eventful start yesterday as Tiger Woods looked set for a comeback and Jim Furyk made an embarrassing exit. The highlight of the day, however, was the World No.1 who looked ready to take on the world again with his picture perfect swings and long putts. In spite of the World No.1 going through a divorce three days ago, he looked all set to reassert himself as the world’s greatest golfer from the very first hole of the round.
Being the first golfer to tee off in the morning at The Barclays 2010, Tiger Woods led the board by default. He, however, did not let go of the lead easily as he started off with a birdie. Finishing with 6 under par at the end of the round, Tiger Woods looked en route to another PGA Championship. Many feel, however, that it is too early to predict with some of the other players like Vaughn Taylor showing extraordinary form and Phil Mickelson making it clear that he is gunning for the top spot.
After the day’s game Phil Mickelson revealed that he has been hoping to get to the top of the ranking for a long time but felt that he did not play as well as he would have liked. Considering that there are a number of criteria for him to be World No.1, that involves Tiger Woods’ performance, the start to The Barclays 2010 might not help his cause that well. He also spoke of his psoriatic diabetes at the PGA and said that it is now in control with shots and a vegetarian diet.
