COIMBATORE - Saran Vikram of Mars Racing completed a fine double in the Formula Rolon class in the third round of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship at the Kari Speedway here Sunday.
Vikram drove a race all of his own after getting off to a good start and then building up a sizeable lead to win comfortably, just like he had in the first outing Saturday.
Meanwhile, Ajay Kini of Meco Motor Sports found himself moved from second to first in the Formula LGB Swift class after S. Narendran (TVS Girling), winner of the race, was excluded on a technical infringement.
TVS Girling, who had swept all three podium spots yesterday, had a dismal outing. Apart from Narendran’s exclusion, the team’s other key driver, Ameya Walavalkar packed up in the very first lap due to a mechanical problem.
Meanwhile, Sailesh Bolisetti (RAD Racing), the talented racer from Vizag, won himself two podium spots in the Volkwagen Polo Cup series.
He topped the first race quite comfortably but was placed second behind Parth Ghorpade (Meco Motor Sports) in the next run that he started from eighth position due to the reverse-grid rule.
The race was marked by hectic action as several cars made contact at the tricky Turn-1, but the incidents did not impact the race or the results.
Likewise, the second race of the Super Saloon cars witnessed chaotic scenes at Turn-1 in the very first lap with championship leader Bolisetti shunted out following a contact with C Rajaraman (Prime Racing).
The Stewards subsequently investigated the incident and decided to exclude Rajaram from the results while veteran D. Vidyaprakash of Prime Racing completed a double by winning the race comfortably, as he had done Saturday.
