LONDON - British Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton has rubbished claims that he demanded money to sign a helmet being used as part of a prize by Abu Dhabi Grand Prix organizers.

The row broke out after it was revealed that another 23 drivers on the grid had signed.

“I would never ask for money to sign anything. The only thing I ever ask is whether it is for charity,” News of The World quoted Hamilton, as saying.

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh also backed his driver, and said: “Lewis has said he will sign it.”Both Lewis and Jenson do more signature signings than any driver I have ever witnessed and they do it with good grace. They never ask for money,” he added.

The 25-year-old will add his name to the helmet after the misunderstanding is cleared. (ANI)
