LONDON - Seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has confessed that he is too old for the sport after he had another disappointing qualifying session.chumacher’s 30 million pound-a-year nightmare comeback continued as he could finish only 11th fastest for Sunday’s Belgium Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.
The 41-year-old, however, will start 21st on the grid after being hit with a 10-place penalty for his horror move on Williams’ Rubens Barrichello at the last race in Hungary.
“At the end of the day, there are physics. How can a 41-year-old be as good as a top-level 23 or 24-year-old?” News of The World quoted Schumacher, as saying.
“I have experience and a high level of speed, but if it is the same as at my high periods in Ferrari I don’t think we will ever know.”At Ferrari I had been working for 10 years to make that level. This time I have been with a whole new team just for one year,” he added.
Schumacher, who has managed just one fourth place this season, is an incredible 123 points behind Red Bull’s championship leader Mark Webber.
Meanwhile, Webber continued Red Bull’s amazing qualifying form by securing another pole position.
The Australian set a lap of one minute 45.778 seconds to secure a 12th pole in 13 races for Red Bull.
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton will join Webber on the front row, with Renault’s Robert Kubica third and Sebastian Vettel fourth. (ANI)
